These contemporary classics are handmade in the UK, under the close supervision of designer Wendee Ou. Each bag is crafted from a single piece of fine Italian or Japanese leather. Delicate yet durable, this most traditional of materials is carefully pleated and stitched to produce a bag that is robust and resilient while also sensuously tactile and understatedly stylish, a luxurious yet functional alternative to the briefcase or handbag. And as with any piece of classic design, the details are essential. Matt cotton webbing contrasts with the smooth gloss of the calfskin, adding texture and strength. Solid brass buckles complement robust leather handles and shoulder straps; linings are natural cotton, in classic polka dots or stripes.

Inspiration.
Study the lines, the pleats, the form. Thoroughly contemporary, but with echoes of Art Deco; of a period when function and style were inextricably linked. Taking the foundations of modern design as her muse, Wendee Ou strives for timeless quality, not disposable fashion. As with any piece of classic design, materials, structure and functionality are integral to the finished product, and everything rests in the details.

Models.
The Dickens, Craig and Thang are stylish alternatives to the briefcase or backpack. The Stoker employs more structured lines while the smaller Craig fastens as a roll-top; both come with removable shoulder straps. The Thang is a sleek square tote. The three men's bags are available in soft black, midnight and light grey full-grain calfskin leather.

The Evans and Therese are their feminine counterparts. Designed for the woman who appreciates form and structure, the series is notable for innovative structural pleatwork, and available in delicately shimmering silver and gold nappa leather in addition to soft black and natural calfskin.

Bio.
Wendee Ou has an instinct for wearable design. Her first graduate collection was snapped up by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia. Applied training followed, as a designer and buyer of bags and accessories for both Australian and British fashion houses. Rather than bury herself in an artists studio, this design approach provided Ou with a solid understanding of commercial work. Business took her from the beaches of Sydney to the East End of London, where her studio is now based. Wendee Ou is the result of Ou's solid understanding of what customers want, combined with her desire to design stylish objects that function in daily life.
